Flat Tire Films' "Ready to Roll" DVD is Available |
In 2008, I co-founded a small production company called Flat Tire Films, created with the express purpose of making a video (and hopefully, more than one) that would help people learn how to do basic maintenance and repairs to their bicycles. And at long last, our first DVD, Ready to Roll is available for purchase from our website! The DVD features long-time bike expert Bill Mould walking you through the basics of bike repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat tire to adjusting your brakes and derailleur to get the best ride possible. Take a look! |

Snapshots of a Soldier Website Launched |
Great news! The website promoting my documentary thesis film, Snapshots of a Soldier, is up and looking good. I started working on this film, a coming-of-age story of a troubled young man who documents his emotional growth during three deployments through pictures and videos, well over a year ago, and I'm so excited to see how it's progressing. On the website, you can watch the trailer, check out pictures that Jason--the protagonist--took during his deployments, read up on news coverage related to the story of the film, and find out how to get more involved in the film by donating money or signing up for updates. You can find the new website here. |

Snapshots of a Soldier Chosen to Get Pitched at SilverDocs! |
Very exciting news! I'm going to get to pitch my thesis documentary film, Snapshots of a Soldier, in front of a panel of commissioning editors (aka, the people who decide what gets broadcast and what doesn't) from PBS, ITVS and a number of cable channels! I was chosen as one of 6 students from film programs across the country who gets the opportunity to pitch a film to a distinguished panel of judges, get feedback on how to better sell my film in the future, and (hopefully, although less likely) generate some interest in possibly broadcasting my film when it's done. This is really exciting, and I'm very much looking forward to it. (And it's really just icing on the cake that I also get to go to SilverDocs--one of the best documentary film festivals in the world--and check out a bunch of new documentaries on top of pitching.) |

Snapshots of a Soldier Script Wins Visions Award |
Very exciting news! The script for my thesis documentary Snapshots of a Soldier won a best Documentary Script award at the American University Visions festival on Friday night. I really love and believe in the story I'm trying to tell in my film, and it's very gratifying to have that belief backed up by other people. In other good news, another short film that I worked on as a camera person, House Call Portraits, won Best Short Documentary! |

PostSecret Wins a TIVA Peer Award |
Saturday night, my first narrative short film PostSecret, about a man who can only share his true feelings and dreams with a complete stranger, via postcards, won a Bronze Peer Award for Best Student Narrative Film from the Television, Internet and Video Association. The Peer awards honor the absolute best work done by filmmakers in the Mid-Atlantic region, and it was an honor to be included in that group! |
